Do we have to pay for volunteers?
- No! As part of Vision Beyond Borders ‘Ethical &
Environmental Policy’, we are committed to our social aim
of supporting those organisations in countries lower in
the economic pyramid.
Which country will the volunteer come from?
- Vision Beyond Borders is a UK based organisation. Most of
our volunteers are based in the UK but not necessarily
from the UK. What is important is that they have the
skills and the desire to work for your organisation.
In which developing countries does Vision Beyond Borders
operate?
- We are continually developing our capacity to work in new
countries and continents! We currently have partners in
Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Burundi,
Namibia, South Africa and Thailand.
What experience and skills do the volunteers have?
- Many! This will depend on the skills that you require to
assist your organisation. We have a pool of clients with
diverse skills and experience.
For how long will the volunteer work at our organisation?
- Assignments are flexible and can vary from a short, high
impact and very specific two week programme to a 24 month
tailored programme. Job descriptions are created with the
input of all three parties; your organisation, our client
and Vision Beyond Borders.
Where do you source our volunteers from?
- We have many different methods of recruiting volunteers.
The majority of our volunteers are recommended to us
through our networks and by word-of-mouth. We will also
advertise through media campaigns and target specific
groups/organisations who offer sabbaticals as part of
their contracts.
Where will our volunteer live?
- We will work with you to facilitate accommodation for our
volunteers. We require that this will be cost free, safe,
secure and within a reasonable distance to the working
location.
What do we need to provide/prepare for our volunteers?
- We will work closely and in partnership with yourselves
and our clients to determine what your need is, what the
volunteers needs are and how best we can accommodate both
parties. Our recruitment process analyses the suitability
of the match. Therefore, we will let you know what
provisions need to be made and together we will all reach
a mutual agreement.
Which languages will my volunteer speak?
- We will work flexibly with your requirements. Most of our
volunteers will not speak your native language but we will
ensure that you are able to fully communicate with your
volunteer.
How soon can we have a volunteer?
- The average amount of time that it takes to find and
prepare a volunteer for your organisation is four months
(provided that you are already registered with us to
receive volunteers). On some occasions it can be sooner.
It is essential that we find you the right volunteer with
the right experience, passion and skills to ensure a high
level and sustainable impact to your organisation.
